Jocelyne Campbell
Jocelyne is a retired high school teacher and guidance counsellor.
She has been active in sports all her life. She has been practicing yoga for over 20 years.
Jocelyne was an avid boxer and boxing had a great influence on her as a yoga teacher. It reinforced her belief that a strong body will strengthen your mind and your spirit. It helped her nourish and be aware of the connection between the body, mind and spirit. Boxing also made her realize just how important empowerment is. “Ultimately, a strong, flexible body and a calm mind bring a feeling of empowerment to our daily life.”
After she retired from teaching in the classroom, she decided to combine her passion for teaching with her passion for yoga. She got her certification as a Hatha Yoga Instructor (RYT200) in 2012 at Upward Dog Yoga. She began teaching yoga at the Rideau Sports Centre the summer of 2012. She also taught at the RA Centre. After opening the studio in September 2017, she taught for 5 years.
As administrator, I have made it my mission to be easily accessible, personable, and accommodating. My goal is to promote a sense of community in the best possible venue for yoga.
Michael Dynie
DOWNdog Yoga Studio welcomes Michael Dynie! Michael first came to DOWNdog in September 2021. In the fall of 2025, he will be back for his fifth year! He will continue to teach two All levels Hatha Yoga classes on Monday evenings and Strength and Strengthening class on Friday mornings.
Michael has been a student of Yoga since 1998, when he began to seek relief from back pain related to scoliosis. He had had back pain all his life. “I truly believed that I was destined to live in pain and mild anxiety and go through life with a hunchback.” Contrary to what some physiotherapists recommended, Mike began a daily yoga practice and was soon on the road towards finding relief for the back pain and anxiety it created. Fast forward to today…
Michael‘s teaching blends modern anatomy studies with traditional Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa. He uses simplicity and breath awareness to draw students deep into the core of the body – the space of meditative awareness and postural stability. He invites you to compassionately explore your boundaries in search of the middle-path. “Yoga is meant to be adapted to the individual. It should start simple and be easy to follow.” His classes are both creative and inspiring.
Michael has taught over 25,000 hours of yoga and has served as the lead facilitator in 24 Yoga Teacher Training Certification programs.

Roxanne Joly
Roxanne came to DOWNdog in 2022. In September 2025 she will continue to teach a Gentle Hatha class on Monday and Wednesday mornings. (Private lessons and healing sessions are also available upon request.)
Roxanne first discovered yoga in her early twenties and it had a profound impact on her and the direction her life would take. “I was drawn to the transformational effects inspired by yoga: deep relaxation, healing, over all well-being and the connection to one’s true self.”
Witnessing the beneficial effects of yoga in the lives of her students inspires her daily. Her goal in class is to encourage students to bring the steadiness found on the mat out into the real world, to help them find joy and peace in all aspects of life.
Roxanne has been sharing her yoga wisdom and knowledge for over 24 years in the Manor Park Community! Also, she has been facilitating healing sessions for a little over 5 years, guided retreats for over 9 years and trained over 120 Hatha Yoga teachers.
Roxanne completed a 320-hour course (Earning the Light Training Program) and received medicine rites from her teacher Pete Bernard (Algonquin Medicine Man from the Algonquin Pikwakanagan First Nation). This is yet another layer of wisdom and healing that she blends into her yoga classes.
How very fortunate we are to have two of the TOP yoga teachers of the Ottawa region as part of the team at DOWNdog!
